Adina Claici speaks on EESC’s virtual event on Europe’s new industrial policy and response to the crisis

May 14, 2020

Today, our Director Adina Claici participated in the European Economic and Social Committee’s (EESC) virtual event to discuss Europe’s new industrial policy and response to the crisis, focusing on the opportunities and challenges of State Aid.

A revision of various State Aid guidelines is currently on the table of DG Competition. Amongst those, we point to two of particular relevance for this opinion: The Energy and Environmental Aid Guidelines.

The framework for supporting Important Project of Common European Interest is very important in the development of European companies. The Commission has approved so far two projects in two priority areas: microelectronics and batteries. Although this is a welcome achievement, our message was that more European projects should be implemented under this framework.
