Copenhagen Economics has been rewarded Mastercase 2011 by the Association of Danish Management Consulting Firms for the project ”The problem in Danish tourism”. The project was conducted on behalf of a range of the largest tourism companies in Denmark.
The project documented that Denmark has lost more tourists than other EU countries the last decade and that unfavorable framework conditions has affected growth negatively. In particular, the project showed that certain VAT rules put Danish hotels and restaurants in unequal competition with other domestic industries and make it difficult to compete with foreign competitors.
In continuation of the project, the Danish government has amended the VAT rules for hotels.
