GCR 2019: New trends require an enhanced integration of the lawyer-economist collaboration in Sweden

November 27, 2018

In 2018, economic analysis has continued to play a pivotal role in Swedish enforcement of competition law. There has been an increasing trend among parties of using bite-sized economic support, analysis and screening early in the process.

Moreover, effects analysis is becoming more important to succeed in court, which puts more pressure on the parties to present careful economic documentation and analysis. Together with the Swedish Competition Authority’s new powers to prohibit mergers, this may cause the SCA to become more selective in its prioritisation of cases in the future.

Learn more in the Handbook of Competition Economics’ chapter on Sweden written by Karl LundvallDavid Nordström and Mattias Almqvist.

The chapter is an extract from GCR’s Competition Economics Handbook 2019, first published in November 2018. Its expert-written specialist intelligence and research provides unique insights into, and analysis of, current and future competition economics trends.
