During the past decade, Danish cancer care has gone through important changes. One of these changes has been the implementation of standardised cancer patient pathways, which include multidisciplinary team conferences (MDT conferences).
We find that an average patient, discussed at an MDT conference, generates a net cost for the Danish healthcare sector of up to DKK 530. Moreover, doctors find that MDT conferences improve the clinical outcomes of their patients.
The analyses in this study are based on a new and unique dataset, which has been generated through a web survey to doctors with experience from MDT conferences.
