New study: The current economic environment coupled with a large backlog in municipal building renovations provides room for smart PPP

Copenhagen Economics has contributed to a study on ”PPP – Organization and financing of public infrastructure projects” for five pension funds: ATP, PFA, PKA, SamPension and PensionDanmark. The background is, that PPP (Public Private Partnership) has been suggested as an organizational method to implement and/or operate public facilities.

The main conclusions of the study are:

  • Current low economic activity coupled with tight fiscal budgets make PPP financed infrastructure investments sensible
  • The organizational form of PPP projects, where the private partner is made liable to some risk, tend to secure better monitoring of projects or operations
