Increased diagnosis of osteoporosis can improve public finances in Denmark by DKK 431 m. on a yearly basis and provide the foundation for a DKK 866 m. increase in Danish GDP.
Through better treatment and earlier diagnosis of the large share of Danes who suffer from the inconveniences of osteoporosis, but have yet to be diagnosed, it is possible to not only reduce the number of doctor’s visits and house calls, but also increase productivity and number of working hours, thereby improving the national economy.
This is one of the main conclusions in our recent study on the benefits of increased diagnosis of osteoporosis.
