In order to accommodate the rapid urbanisation in the Capital Region of Denmark, housing supply in the region needs grow by between 5,000 and 9,000 dwellings per year for the next 20-30 years – most in the first couple of years and most in the city center.
That is one of the key conclusions in our study on urbanisation and housing market development in Capital Region of Denmark.
In the study, we identify several potential urban planning strategies, focusing on a number of still undeveloped areas and a great potential for densification of existing urban areas. This could provide approx. 270.00o dwellings until 2035, given that a number of regulatory and capacity barriers are overcome.
On 27 February, the results of the study are presented and discussed at a conference held by the Ministry of Transport, Building, and Housing in Copenhagen.
