On 19 November 2012 the Norwegian Postal and Telecommunications authority (NPT) held the Norwegian 2 GHz auction. All the nine blocks of spectrum that were up for sale were sold to the three incumbent network operators, Telenor, TeliaSonera and Mobile Norway. The auction result leaves the three operators with identical spectrum holdings in the 2 GHz band. The auction was concluded after just one round of bidding as two bidders withdrew, the last one just 24 minutes before the auction was scheduled to start.
Copenhagen Economics advised NPT on the design and implementation of the auction.
