Växjö Kommun wins case against the Swedish Competition Authority

November 17, 2015

Yesterday, Stockholm District Court issued its decision in a case between the Swedish Competition Authority and Växjö Kommun. Senior Economist, Karl Lundvall, contributed to the case with three expert opinions on relevant market & anti-competition effect issues. These pieces of evidence had noticeably some impact on the decision.

The Swedish Competition Authority alleged that the municipal violated 3 kap 27 § in the Swedish competition act by tying its sale of plots for small-house (småhus) construction with a compulsory connection to the local distant heating system provided by its own energy company.

The Swedish Competition Authority lost the case.
