Danish agriculture’s emission of greenhouse gases and production

The Danish Council on Climate Change asked Copenhagen Economics to analyse which agricultural products are driving greenhouse gas emissions in the Danish agriculture sector.

The main conclusions of our study are

• Almost 90% of greenhouse gas emissions from Danish agriculture is ultimately a result of cattle and swine breeding.
• The most important end-use products from cattle and swine are milk, beef and pork.
• The share of production value and share of employment for these products compared to the total agriculture sector are roughly one-third. 

The Danish Council on Climate Change conducts analyses of greenhouse gas emissions in Denmark, and give recommendations to policy makers about how to turn Denmark into a low carbon society.
