In this note, we argue that the government is likely overestimating the roll out of electric vehicles in 2020 in light of the proposed inclusion of electric vehicles in the car registration tax system. We find that the likely roll out in the year 2020 is around 400-1,100 cars; significantly lower than the government estimate of 8,300.
