A well-functioning society needs a well-functioning judiciary. But the courts in Denmark are overburdened. The court case processing times for both criminal and civil cases have generally increased in recent years and reached a level that is increasingly perceived as unacceptable by users of the court system.

Copenhagen Economics has analysed how waiting times will keep increasing unless the courts receive more funding and hire more judges.
