Kalundborg is one of the industrial powerhouses of Denmark, but its road infrastructure challenges further growth and expansion of the area’s companies. One of these companies, Novo Nordisk, has asked Copenhagen Economics to analyse the economic impact of finalizing the highway to Kalundborg, taking broader effects for society into account.

Copenhagen Economics finds that a finalization of the highway to Kalundborg will lead to significant economic gains for the Danish society. The highway will eliminate bottlenecks in the labour market and improve local companies’ access to road infrastructure. Considering costs, the net value for society is estimated to be in the range of DKK 1-1.5 billion. Hence, there is a good business case for the infrastructure project.
