background

Elena advises clients on competition, regulation, and policy in digital, technology, and postal and delivery markets. She combines rigorous econometric analysis with clear and accessible economic arguments for regulators and policymakers.

Her recent projects address some of the fastest-moving questions in digital markets. She has examined how dark patterns in online interfaces shape consumer choice and rivalry between firms. She has also analysed the market dynamics of cloud and generative AI.

On the regulatory side, she assesses the economic impact of interventions such as access regulation in telecommunications and postal markets.

Across her work, Elena aims to ground competition, regulatory, and policy debates in sound economic evidence. She has contributed analysis to regulatory submissions and policy discussions and has worked with clients in their exchanges with competition authorities, regulators, and policymakers, both nationally and at the EU level.

Before joining Copenhagen Economics, Elena worked as an economist at Prometeia in Milan. She holds an MSc in Economics from Maastricht University and Université Catholique de Louvain, specialising in competition, regulation, and European economics.
